How do I read the text (SMS) city report?
The City report gives you an overview of the state of traffic for the city you request. It will show you what major roads are having traffic issues. There are 3 categories described below:
- ACDNT stands for Accident – If a road is listed here, then there is a major incident occurring on that road.
- JAM stands for JAMMED – If a road is listed here, then the Jam Factor for at least one of the segments of that road is very high.
- SLW stands for SLOW – If a road is listed here, then the Jam Factor for at least one of the segments of that road is high.
In order to fit as much information as possible, the road names and the direction have been abbreviated. If there is a unique route number for a road, then the route number is used for the abbreviation. If the road does not have a number, then the first letter of each word in the road name is used for the abbreviation and is shown in capital letters.
The direction is always last and shown in lower case. There are 6 directions used:
- n – NORTH
- s – SOUTH
- e – EAST
- w – WEST
- i – INBOUND
- o – OUTBOUND
For example, In Chicago you may see the following road abbreviations:
- 65s – I65 South
- DREi – I-90/I-94 Dan Ryan Exwy Inbound
- LSDn – Lake Shore Drive North
If you see an abbreviation that you do not recognize, go to our request help page. Please specify the city and abbreviation and they will be able to tell you what road the abbreviation is for.
